Extended Christmas Break

Time: All Day

On, Dec. 30, 2021, Adriana LaGrange, the Minister of Education, made an announcement regarding the return to classes following the Christmas break.

Because of the quickly evolving situation with the Omicron variant, the anticipated high number of student and staff absences, and the related concern for the health and safety of students and staff, the province has extended the Christmas break an additional week. YWITT – Careers in Agriculture and Cooking Trades

Time: 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

January 12, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm |Free

Learn about careers in agriculture and the skilled trades in food preparation, such as Cook and Baker.

Agriculture: The agricultural industry is both valuable and critical to our society and remains one of the largest sources of employment in many areas across Alberta and the world. It is an industry that continues to redefine itself and to present ever-evolving career opportunities. Whether it is working as a farmer, harvester, technician for farm equipment, scientist, and so on, there are an amazing number of opportunities for careers.

Careers:  Beekeeper, Horticulturist, Veterinarian, Food Specialist, Seed Producer, Equine Stable Hand, Farmer, Irrigation Specialist, the list “grows” on and on…

Cook: As the industry shifts, and the gender barrier dissipates, the opportunities for women in cooking are better than ever.

The skills that we learn in the culinary arts can be applied to so many different areas in our lives. We learn organization, teamwork, cleanliness, food safety, sanitization practices, as well as the undeniably great skill behind the art of cooking.

Virtual Gathering of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Parents and Families

Time: 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: Microsoft Teams

The First Nations, Métis and Inuit education team is once again offering a series of virtual gatherings for EIPS families of First Nations, Métis or Inuit children. We look forward to continuing the conversation from last school year and welcoming new families to our virtual circle. These gatherings are an opportunity for First Nations, Métis and Inuit parents and guardians to come together to make connections, create a supportive environment for dialogue, share hopes and ideas for their children within the EIPS family and learn what’s happening around the Division. We’re grateful to Elder Wilson Bearhead for attending our virtual gatherings last school year and agreeing to open each of our gatherings again this year. It’s truly an honour and a privilege to be guided by Elder Wilson, and we hold our relationship with him close to our hearts.

For more information or if you're interested in participating, reach out to the First Nations, Métis and Inuit education lead teacher at your child's school.
